To all our family and friends: welcome to our go fund me page. Lee and I sincerely thank you for visiting.
Many of you know Lee was diagnosed with colon cancer on 11/22/16. She had been experiencing gut problems for most all of 2016. Early in the year she was diagnosed with SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). That issue was resolved but her gut issues weren't fully resolved.
Over Labor Day weekend she was hospitalized for a small perforation in her colon. The CT scan showed major inflammation and a possible recurrence of her endometrial cancer. After the perforation healed and her symptoms weren't getting better, she was discovered to have amebiasis parasite. We figured this was the problem all along. We resolved it but the gut issues remained.
(When she had her endometrial cancer it was discovered, through genetic testing, that she has a marker for Lynch Syndrome. In women, Lynch presents itself most often as endometrial cancer or colon cancer.)
She was already on an accelerated colonoscopy schedule. The perforation was contained via antibiotics. A follow-up CT scan , about a month later, didn't show much improvement and we scheduled a colonoscopy to see what was going on. That's when the colon cancer was discovered. So, we really have no idea when the colon cancer first appeared because it was masked by two other diagnoses for gut issues. It's likely been around for quite some time.
This brings me to why I am asking for some help with medical treatment. I fully expect the final pathology report will stage this as a stage 3 or even stage 4 cancer. Chemotherapy for this later stage colon cancer is not as effective as it for some other cancers. I did a lot of research and found a very effective post operative therapy using medical marijuana. Marijuana kills cancer cell but it takes quite a bit of it. No, not smoking it. The current prevailing thought is called the Rick Simpson method and is based on his research an trials.
It is the cannabinol extract that gives marijuana its medicinal properties. In the extract we will be using, the psychotropic properties of the THC are removed and only the CBD cannanibiol remains.
The dosage needed to ingest is 1 gram/day for a total of 60 grams in up to 90 days. (There can be up to a 30 day ramp-up). 60 grams is very expensive and clearly not covered by insurance. After that dosage, any remaining cancer should be gone.
At this point, because she is at such a high risk of recurrences of a new colon cancer at some point, there is a maintenance regimen of about 1.5 grams/month for the rest of her life.
Thanks for reading our situation and thanks in advance for considering a contribution. We sincerely appreciate all the love and support of our friends and family. Both Lee and I are very proud people and it pains us to seek help this way. We love you all.
