Leena Needs Double Knee Surgery

Donation protected

Leena is a 1 1/2 year old Great Dane with the biggest heart and a ton of personality.  She has been in a lot of pain lately, so I took her to the vet to get diagnostics done, and it turns out that she needs surgery in both of her back knees.

Leena has torn her Cruciate Ligament in both of her back legs.  Unfortunately, this means she is in a LOT of pain, has a hard time walking, and that it is doing continuous damage to her knees and will inevitably result in worse injury if it is not dealt with as soon as possible.  She has been shivering from pain, both while conscious and in her sleep.. and often has a hard time getting up or moving.

For anyone who knows Leena, you can only imagine how incredibly heartbreaking it is to see her this way, as she is usually a very energetic, mischievous, loving dog.

The surgery needs to be done otherwise, she will be suffering too much and I can't afford to do it on my own.  I have already spend over $1,000 on costs to date and this procedure/recovery/medication will cost an extra ~ $11,200.  I can't afford this on my own and really do not want to have to say goodbye to her.  She is my baby and it breaks my heart that she may not be able to get the best shot at a full life that she can possibly get.

The surgeries have to be done separately, as she still needs to use one leg, so thankfully this buys a little bit of time, but the costs are as follows:

$4500 (x2) surgery costs per leg
$300 (ish) for imaging after each surgery
$700 (ish) in pain medication over the time it takes for her to heal

Taxes take this to about $11,200 and I'm sure there will be extra costs added on top.  I am just ballparking her medications based on the pain meds she is currently taking, though I expect there will be more added.  I'm hoping this is enough, though I am absolutely going to cover as much of this on my own as I possibly can.

I have to put a time limit on this, because I can't live with myself if I let her suffer indefinitely while I try to scrounge enough money together to cover these costs.  For this reason, my timeline for the first $5000 milestone ends at the end of February.

If for some reason the first milestone isn't reached in time, I plan on letting her rest peacefully and donating the amount that I've received to someone else's pet so that they don't have to suffer or have the same fate.

Please if you can help in any way, whether it be financially or even just sharing this page, please help.  Leena deserves a chance to live her life and she is healthy in every other way.
