We all know Leela for her compassion, care, and empathy. She’s always given so freely of her time and resources to family and community– it’s our turn to lift her up and hold her as she begins a fight with breast cancer.

What we know– it’s been caught early, but it is a difficult type of cancer to treat. Leela has met with her surgeon and will be having surgery within the next few weeks. Once that has happened, the nearby lymph nodes wiill be checked and the oncology department will then come up with a game plan for eradicating it. In the meantime, Leela’s life work is with dogs, a job which requires a lot of focus, precision and patience. She is unable to work as she copes with this diagnosis along with an ongoing anxiety disorder related to previous medical trauma..

We would like to make it such that her living and medical expenses can be covered so that she will be able to focus on rest and recovery while she undergoes treatment.
