Leeds Hospitals Charity
Hello! We're Splash Swim Academy Halifax/Huddersfield, a swim school in West Yorkshire. We are raising money for Leeds Hospitals Charity, which treated one of our swimming instructors earlier this year.
Here's Jenna’s story...
Jenna was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nasopharyngeal cancer on New Year’s Eve following surgery on a lump in her neck. This is a rare type of cancer that around 260 people are diagnosed with each year in the UK.
After multiple scans in January, it was discovered that she had three tumours - one behind her nose and two in her neck.
Jenna has undertaken 7 weeks of radiotherapy & chemotherapy. She is now resting at home whilst she recovers and will be having scans again in July/August to see how successful the treatment has been and plan the next stage of her treatment & recovery.
Splash want to raise money for the Leeds Hospital Charity, where Jenna undertook her treatment (Jenna chose this charity for us to raise funds for).
We have set ourselves a challenge to swim a distance of 10 miles in one hour with Splash instructors & swimmers working in teams to complete distances. This will take place at Rishworth School swimming pool on Saturday 2nd July - the school have donated the pool hire fee to the cause.
Money will be raised via this GoFundme page as well as instructors and swimmers getting sponsorships from friends & family.
Please consider donating, no matter how small, as it will make a huge difference.
Thank you so much!
