Lee's Cancer Fight

On Tuesday, November 27th, I went to Med Express to try and clear up some sinuses and what I thought may be bronchitis. The PA did a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia and found a mass in my chest. She immediately sent me to Wheeling Hospital for more testing. I was quickly introduced to a cardiac surgeon that explained what needed to happen asap- a biopsy was needed and there was fluid around my lungs that concerned him. They admitted me that night to the hospital. Since then, I have had a few procedures including the biopsy and removal of the fluid around my lungs. The biopsy procedure created blood clots in my left arm which have been very painful.I was notified the day after my biopsy that it is indeed cancer, Primary Mediastinal High Ball Lymphoma. It is common in women ages 30-50 and is treatable. It is aggressive so I am in the hospital for this treatment and maybe the remaining treatments as well. The treatment plan is one week on and 2 weeks off with a total of 6 steps of treatment in total. I have been told by my oncologist and cardiac surgeon that I have a long road ahead of me. But I am young and no reason to think I won't come out ahead of this.As a single mother, I am the sole provider for David and myself. We all know that our bills will not pay for themselves so I am doing something that I do not like to do....ask for help. There are not many options through my employer but my doctor's office will help me file paperwork for temporary disability. I would like to work when I can....but waiting on word from my employer to see how that works etc. All funds collected will help pay my bills that my income had previously taken care of. I did a guestimate as to the cost and timeframe so it may adjust as I go.
