Wildfire Recovery for Sue, Dave, Rod & Alanna
My name is Amber Poffinbarger and my parents are Susan Allan, Rod Poffinbarger (Alanna Stearns) and David Allan.
On Friday August 18th, 2023, a wildfire ripped through the North Shore of the Shuswap and destroy many communities, including my own in Lee Creek Heights. Our family was hit hard as all three of our family homes burnt to the ground -my mom's home (Sue), my dad's home (Rod & Alanna) and my stepdad's home (Dave Allan).
Now they have nothing left.
My family moved to Lee Creek 50 years ago and they built their homes from the ground up with the help of their friends. They are all retired and living on low incomes. They had land for sustainable gardens, flower gardens, and workshops, they had wells for water, a root-cellar full of canning. They were comfortable and happy living their retirement years up where they raised their families. We had plans to raise the grandchildren up there too.
I don't know what they will do now.
I don't know how to help them except try to raise money so they can be comfortable now and for the next couple of months.
I want to raise money to help my parent with the next chapter of their lives. They are all stressed out, frustrated, sad, devastated and homeless.
Whatever money I raise here will be split equally three ways. If you want to donate to just one family member, let me or them know and we can arrange that privately.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the generosity of this community and of all my friends and extended family.
