On June 11th, Kobi was exercising when her left arm began to contract. She sat down and called out for help. When her daughter found her, she was seizing and non-responsive. Two ambulance rides and two hospitals later it was confirmed that she had a tumor on the back right side of her brain. The tumor is currently low grade and in an area relatively easy to remove. It appears to have been growing slowly for many years. But the type of tumor can change into something more aggressive. And further growth will begin to affect motor skills, then language and cognitive skills.
So, the course of treatment is to remove as much as possible as soon as possible. The doctors will not know exactly what kind of tumor it is and whether she will need additional treatment until it is removed. We have found a very good surgeon and the surgery can be scheduled very soon. However, the out-of-pocket cost for the surgery is estimated between $30-60,000 which the LeBlancs do not have. And as of now, the hospital will want this payment before surgery. This obviously doesn’t include the costs already accumulated with ambulance and emergency care, or any future treatment she may need after surgery.
We are so thankful for any help and prayers.
