Cathy and Rick LeBlanc were married on December 30, 2017. Only a few months into their marriage, Rick was unexpectedly let go from his job. Seeking a means to better support his wife, Rick accepted a new position in Pensacola, Florida. Rick subsequently moved in mid June, while Cathy stayed behind to finish moving preparations.
Yet only eight days into his new job Rick unexpectedly suffered from a dissecting aorta on July 3, 2018. Due to the type of procedure needed, Rick was transferred to Gainsville, Florida for immediate surgery. After two weeks recovery time, Rick was discharged only to be readmitted two days later with double pneumonia. He continued to be in and out of ICU for a number of other complications over the next month.
Finally seeing an end in sight, Rick and Cathy returned home on Friday, August 3, planning to continue recovery at home. Cathy wrote on Facebook: "We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. We are home once again. Hopefully Rick gets to stay home!"
Only four days after this post Rick tragically passed away while traveling for a doctor's check up.
While Cathy and family continue to grieve, we want to ensure that they are taken care of spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The many moves, medical bills, and death/funeral expenses acrued have put a considerable strain on the family. Our goal is to help fund Cathy's move back to Lafayette and cover some of the cost of Rick's funeral and medical expenses. We thank you in advance for any financial help you can give and hope you will continue to keep Cathy and all of Rick's loved ones in your prayers.
