This year, Tag Rugby South Africa has an opportunity to send 3 teams to the International Tag Rugby World Cup to be held in Ireland.
The event will see 28 countries and 2,500 athletes compete at the highest level and we have been working hard since 2018 to make this happen.
The South African team is diverse, and our players come from all walks of life.
We have accountants, business owners, a doctor and a chef. But not all of us have been equally fortunate in our upbringings and we also have many players that come from extreme poverty, including a rehabilitated gang member, a range of students and highly dedicated community coaches focused on improving the lives of others. Some of our players have never even stepped foot on a plane before.
Tag Rugby is what has brought us together and we have the incredible opportunity to play alongside each other representing the same country, no matter what our backgrounds are.
Unfortunately, we have many players who are struggling to fund the trip given the costs for travel, accommodation and kit.
We don’t want to leave any player behind and so are aiming to raise as much as possible and show that no matter where you have come from, you can have the same opportunity to represent your country proudly.
Whether you are a friend, family or colleague, or a potential sponsor, we would be grateful for any contribution you can make to help us achieve our goal of getting all selected TagBoks to the World Cup this year.
