Early in the morning of July 2nd, the Leask family of Thornhill, ON were preparing to go to bed. Instead, a damaged electrical wire to the house started a fire, and they quickly found their home engulfed in flames. The resulting blaze was described by the Deputy Fire Chief described as “very, very stubborn.” The family escaped with only the clothes on their backs and had to watch all their belongings go up in flames.
The Leasks will never be able to replace many of the priceless memories that were lost, and are now faced with the overwhelming task of trying to start their lives anew. In addition to everyday items, they will need to purchase a new motorized scooter and hearing aids for their daughter Sydney. She and her twin sister, Jocelyn, were both excited to have the summer off after finishing their first year of college, but will now instead have to spend it rebuilding their lives.
So many friends and loved ones would like to provide help to the family, but right now they are focused on processing what they've lost. We can instead support them by helping to alleviate some of the financial pressure they are facing in light of the tragedy. Any assistance will go a long way and be sincerely appreciated - thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
