Lea's Parkinson's Journey

My mum, and our friend was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2016. She had no worsening of symptoms until 12 months ago when oral medication could no longer treat her symptoms. She stopped working in June 2023.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery is required as a treatment plan, with a $25,000 out of pocket expenses for surgery alone. The surgery has the potential to give Lea 5, 10 or even if she is really lucky 15 years of better quality of life. All of the funds raised will go towards assisting Lea and her family in supporting her Parkinson's journey

Although Parkinson’s is not life threatening it is life changing. PD will strip you of your choice, control, dignity, profession, your ability to complete normal day to day task without someone helping. It really is a cruel unrelenting disease. Lea can not stop it but she can do everything in her power to give herself more quality time with her family and friends.
