Lea's Dysautonomia Treatment
Donation protected
My husband, Mike, died after a horrible, traumatic 9 month decline with brain cancer during the Covid-19 pandemic. The C-PTSD I developed as a result was debilitating, I stopped being able to write (my primary source of income), I developed aphasia, neuro-psychological testing showed I had experienced a significant brain injury.
This is horrifically complicated by my bout with Covid-19, which I contracted in October. Prior to my covid infection I was already diagnosed with dysautonomia. The amount of function I've lost is almost impossible to measure. I lost my employment, much of my mobility, and the capacity to do many of the things I need in order to function.
Things have been getting better, slowly. But after months, I'm finally approved by my doctors for treatments that might ACTUALLY help me, in the long run.
This treatment is ketamine therapy. The idea is that ketamine helps the brain to reorganize neural pathways that might not be functioning properly. This is treatment usually used to treat C-PTSD, but the hope is that because of its neurological functions, it might help repair the damage done through my covid infection. It's exciting, and scary, and really we have no idea how it's going to go. But it's the only thing out there to try, and I'm desperate to have my brain back in working order again.
The problem is, my insurance will only cover about a third of it. And as I mentioned, this illness has lost me my employment. So I'm asking for help.
I'll need just over $3k dollars over the course of two months to cover the treatment, but I'm optimistic that this will be a life-changing treatment for me.
Thank you so much for whatever help you can spare.
