Dear All,
You know that feeling of having the weight of the world on your shoulders? The pressure of having everyone and everything depending on you? How about the excitement of your upcoming birthday, which you can hardly wait for?
Okay, now that you are filled with these emotions, place yourself in a cold medical office hearing the doctor, as he points at a few x-ray images saying, "If it is successful you will need 12 weeks to learn how to walk and if unsuccessful you may never walk or live another day." Wait what...
What is your response? Maybe something like "wait I have a mortgage, rent, kids, a job, a birthday in 3 weeks and an entire life to live. I can't be out of work for more than 5 hours let alone 12 weeks or worse what will my kids and wife do if I die or never walk again. This can't be happening."
Well, in the life of our dear friend, colleague, and/or family member Peter Stur this is exactly what happened. The world of Peter and his wife Christin would be flipped upside-down in just a matter of weeks. They began preparing their affairs; hoping for the best, expecting the worst, and taking on whatever happened. What do you do when you are preparing for a long recovery, a life altering change or even death? You spend money; not on frivolous items, but on the necessary. In preparation to ensure those around you are taken care of.
One thing we don't realize is the amount of money it takes to get all these affairs in order. Money you would not want to spend or elect to spend in the midst of a pandemic; a pandemic so vast that the WORLD economy hangs in the balance. This is not simply about the medical expenses, although some of the ongoing recovery will need to be accounted for. This is not about anything other than coming together and helping a FAMILY who has lost any sense of the word normal and is now on the road called HOPE.
The hope of getting to jump on their father's lap again, the hope of riding a bike, running around the house, playing with dad. The hope of hosting family and friends without the continued nagging of a broken spine. The hope of taking his spouse to a "thank you" dinner for taking care of him. While the Stur family embark on their new journey of HOPE, please join me as we help Peter, Christin and their family.
