It's been three months since I was hit on my bike by an ice cream truck and dragged through two intersections. In a real moment of reflection, time truly waits for no one. I'm improving daily, the road rash burns are shrinking but you truly can’t rush the body’s natural healing process, you can only assist and help. At this current pace, I anticipate my remaining open wounds closing on a timeline around late December into the new year.
My day-to-day is still far from normal, I'm actively still on pain meds, still dressing my leg wounds daily, I'm unable to wear shoes or socks (Straight Birks, No Socks) cause too much friction with my open wound still doesn't feel great. I've forcefully eased myself back into personal training and teaching yoga because I need the money, plus I refuse to stay still. Ya’ll know I have to be in motion constantly, it’s a gift and curse.
My medical bills are past the 20K point, but I am working with a lawyer and NYPD for justice and retribution, things just take an absorbent amount of time. My rent, and daily expenses (meds supplies, groceries, car payments) are still my immediate needs at the moment, while I continue to look for part-time employment. My landlord is actively working to raise to my rent, and not very sympathetic to my situation, unfortunately, as I am behind one month on rent, soon to be two!
I'm eternally and extremely grateful to those who have helped so far! I'm full of gratitude for how the community has shown up for me. The donations, the shares on socials, the words of encouragement, and the prayers have all been felt.
The last bit of good news is, I did find a job, but I don't start until February 2025! I was accepted into a Google UX Design apprenticeship program, which I'm extremely excited about, it's an 18-month paid program that will go until August 2026, which is another hard left in my career path, but I'm excited nonetheless!
Thank you all again, sincerely from the heart!
Peace & Love
