Want to join me in making a difference in kids lives? The Oher Foundation is raising money to help kids in poverty and in foster care homes have a better life for themselves. The Oher foundation goal is to provide youth, both disadvantaged and in need, with empowering opportunities that enrich their lives, and provide a mechanism for higher education and a healthy living.

Moving into my dorm room at The University of Mississippi and realizing all of the hard work and sacrifice it took to get there had paid off.
Watching the NFL draft with my family and seeing my name as the Raven’s number 23 pick.
The stadium filling with purple and gold confetti as my teammates and I celebrated winning Superbowl XLVII.
But nothing compares to the moments I look into the eyes of a foster child and see a spark of hope because I have helped meet their needs through my Beat the Odds Foundation.
Chronic poverty and home instability are crushing to a child. Before the pandemic hit, The National Center for Children in Poverty reported that a mind-boggling 15 million children in America lived in poverty. As unemployment hits families teetering on the poverty line especially hard in the wake of the pandemic, that number is continuing to climb.
Currently, there are close to half a million kids in foster care in this country. Their future is pretty bleak.
Less than half of the boys who wind up in foster care will graduate high school. Half of those dropouts will wind up in prison for committing violent crimes.
Girls in foster care are six times more likely to have children before the age of twenty-one than girls in stable families. Half of their children will wind up in foster care themselves.
I was once one of those foster kids. Through a lot of hard work, determination, and help from people just like you, I broke the cycle of childhood poverty and home instability to achieve a college education, play football in the NFL, and most importantly, grow into a man who was able and willing to reach back to kids just like me and help them make it too.
