Learning Abroad: Help dreams come true
Hi, My name is Bethany Richard. I am hoping to raise enough money to become an exchange student in Spain, for my senior year of high school. My family has hosted exchange students in the past and are currently hosting an exchange student from Germany. I've been wanting to study and travel abroad for several years, but we can not afford to pay for it. I applied for a scholarship through an exchange program called ASSE. They only give out one 100% and five 90% scholarships for the entire U.S. I have been told that I was not selected for a scholarship and will have to pay for it myself. This means I have only until June 1st to raise enough money to pay my way across the ocean! That cost is $9,750.00 not including air fare in U.S. or spending money.
I am a straight A student in school and have devoted myself to preparing for my future education. I babysit for multiple families, house sit for friends and family, & work for local people doing odd jobs to earn money. I also started my own dogsitting business that has turned into critter sitting (dogs, cats, horses, fish, etc.). I have earned and saved about $2,600.00, but I still have a long way to go beofre June 1st. Living in a town with only one blinking light, makes it hard to grasp opportunities and nearly impossible to encounter varying cultures. This is a chance for me to change my life and discover who I am! I'm asking for help because it will be difficult for me to raise money in the last month and a half of school, while keeping my grades up. I would really appreciate any monetary help you could donate to my dream; every little bit helps! This is an experience I will take with me the rest of my life.
Thank you very much for your consideration and helping me turn my dream into my life! Have a nice day and God Bless.
Bethany Richard
