SOL Tamil App

The SOL Tamil App is designed to make spoken Tamil accessible and enjoyable for learners everywhere. Sol [சொல்] in Tamil means word or to say. Unlike most resources that focus on written Tamil, this app emphasises real-life conversations. Learners start with simple vocabulary and gradually progress to spoken phrases, grammar, and verb conjugation used in everyday conversations.

Preserving and passing on Tamil to the next generation in the diaspora is vital. Tamil connects us to our identity, heritage, and culture, yet balancing life and learning a new language can be challenging. The SOL Tamil App aims to make this process simple, practical, and engaging.

I’m Sabtha Uthayarajan, founder of the Tamil Language Centre and creator of The Tamil Channel on YouTube (running since 2016). I’ve been teaching Tamil for over 20 years, and since 2019, I’ve focused exclusively on teaching spoken Tamil to second- and third-generation Tamils in the diaspora. I’m now bringing this dream to life with the help of experienced teachers volunteering their time and professional app developers to build a high-quality platform.

Funds raised will go toward app development and hiring voice artists for accurate and natural voiceovers, ensuring a rich spoken learning experience.
