LEAP School South Africa
Donation protected
Over spring break Nightingale-Bamford's Chamber Chorus went on a trip to South Africa in order to share music which they had been learning since August. Two weeks after completing the trip, many of us are still awed and touched by the kind spirit of the people that we encountered. During our trip we visited a township in Cape Town called Langa. Here we were welcomed by many children and despite being separated by language and culture we connected on the basis of humanity. The children's happiness did not reflect the shanty homes that they lived in or the fact that they had been restricted to very little water per household due to a recent drought. What has stuck with me most from our visit to Langa was the alarming statistic that about 60% of children drop out of high school due to various reasons. LEAP Science and Maths Schools is actively trying to change this by creating new schools centralized in such communities like Langa. They provide the children of such communities with resources such as a higher level of education, supplies, computers, etc. We would love to show our support for the school and its initiative by raising $10,000 which has the potential to give four students full scholarships. If each member of our Chamber Chorus got 500 people to donate $1 we could easily get to our goal and further someone else's education, something that is so important to have in today's world.
Thank you so much for your generosity in donating as every dollar counts! Let's brighten someone's future in an already very bright country.
