Back in June, my daughter, Leanne Craig, contracted the COVID virus. Shortly thereafter, she began having numbness and severe pain in her feet and legs. The symptoms worsened and spread to the point that by August, she was unable to walk or even feed herself. Doctors were puzzled by the cause and after numerous tests in Montgomery, AL with no concrete results, she was taken to Birmingham for treatment. No official diagnosis was found, but her symptoms were consistent with Guillain Barre syndrome, so she was treated as such. She has had enough therapy so that she can stand again but shakily. She walks some with a walker when her feet do not hurt too much. She has constant pain in her hands and feet. The doctors say it could be a year before she can walk again and she could have this pain for months. She barely sleeps and nothing helps the pain. She wants to go back to work so badly but we have no idea when that will be possible. As her mother I am caring for her and also trying to work to cover mine and her bills and out of pocket medical expenses. She needs help with all of life's normal tasks so can't be left alone. If you feel in your heart like contributing to ease some of the stress it would be greatly appreciated by Leanne and me.
