LEANDER TEXAS NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!
Donation protected
I'm a Montana girl with a big heart. I was flying down to visit originally. Then the flooding occurred. When I made it to Leander, Texas, I was beyond shocked and devastated to see and feel the letdown to the Sandy Creek residents by Travis County and the state of Texas. In this specific location, the water rose 30 to 40 feet in a very short 4 hours. Houses and families were swept away. You can see in the photos how wide the flash flood channeled. No one through the county or state showed up, and as of today, Monday the 14th of July, they still have not. They have impeded volunteers from helping. Not because we are in their way; they are nowhere to be found except on one ranch, where they seem to only be blocking access. Family members are still missing. The people in Leander doing the search and recovery and cleanup are all volunteers! And not through an assisting agency. They are all trained and qualified, yet we are running out of supplies to keep going. No one in this specific area has received any type of relief funds. These people do not deserve to be left in the dark during such a tragic event. We need medical supplies, IV supplies, gas, rooms for volunteers and residents. The volunteers that showed up to provide food need food to provide. We have men and women volunteering all day in extreme conditions, sleeping in the cab of their truck, car, or flatbed trailer. What is happening is inhumane. The volunteers that stopped everything are running on empty. Even 20 dollars is gas for chainsaws.
