If you've met Marc and Alecia, you know they're some of life's greatest cheerleaders. They epitomize resiliency and they stand strong, loudly and fiercely in anyone's corner who's lacking a support system.

 

And now - they need us in theirs.

 

On June 10, 2016 our brother-in-law Marc suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) when he fell two stories and has been recovering ever since. His disability sometimes translates into days in bed with chronic pain, brain fog, cognitive deficits, balance issues, vision issues, noise and light sensitivities. It’s stolen a lot from Marc, and his family.

 

Since the beginning, Marc & Alecia have put miles and miles on their car, following every possible treatment within Ontario that Marc’s been eligible to participate in. Unfortunately, many times his disability doesn’t qualify. They have squeezed the life out of every opportunity provided to them and have found themselves blessed to be able to lean into our community of family and friends to get to each appointment and juggle parenthood. For that - we thank you.

 

In speaking with Marc & Alecia, they’ve realized that the treatment options currently available for Marc are to mask pain, not to work towards rehabilitation.

 

They choose rehabilitation and lean into hope.

 

THE PLAN: Cognitive FX is a brain boot camp (located in Utah USA). This is a week-long program that attempts to force blood flow into tired areas of the brain, optimizing brain energy output, through individualized treatment of therapies. Marc’s success will continue to gain traction as he completes therapy at home to optimize his achievements. Cognitive FX has seen the type of success we hope to see in Marc. Marc & Alecia have decided to lean hard into hope - they have been approved for treatment, paid their deposit and are ready to attend the week of May 16th.

 

Unfortunately, out-of-country care and travel is expensive – and they can’t make it happen alone. This is where we need you. We know it’s a lot - but we also know the community these two come from and the way they rally for each other in their darkest times. So we lean into hope for Marc.

 

The basic $ breakdown:

 

· Treatment $11,050 USD = $14,010 CAD

· Flights/Car rental = $4,000 CAD

· Hotel = $2000 CAD

 

We have seen the late nights researching, we’ve seen the countless miles on their cars, we’ve seen the tears, the hope, the chase of treatments, and we want them to know they are not (and never will be) on this journey alone.
