Leah Wack's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

Dear Friends:

You may recall over the last decade or so watching Leah’s life unfold on camera via the local media outlets. Leah’s mother Carol Beeson Wack gave birth to twin boys prematurely alone, in the bathroom of her Troy Hill home on Thanksgiving of 1999, the news was there to watch the story unfold. 6 years later in 2005, Carol lost her life to heart failure, leaving Leah and her father Glenn, to care for the twins, Matthew and Shawn. Or, you may remember this tragic story that was all over the news, almost exactly one year later, Memorial Day weekend of 2006, Glenn took the twins to the river to fish, one of the twins fell into the water, got pulled in by a current and started drowning, Glenn and his friend both quickly jumped in to save the boys life.  As Glenn hoisted his son above his head, the current tragically sucked both Glenn and his friend under the frigid waters of the Allegheny river that afternoon, both Glenn and his friend heroically lost their lives later that evening.  After both Carol and Glenn passed away, Leah a 22 year old young girl who fought to gain full legal guardianship of her 6 year old little brothers, which at the time they had no home, no stable source of income and a lack resources for survival at that time.

Lets fast forward to a decade later-the present, Leah is currently 32 years old, over the years she has put herself through school, built a career, a home in Mount Troy that she shares with Matthew and Shawn, now 16, along with her long time friend and fiancé, Ken Tester.  As Leah and the boys are trying to lead normalcy after all of the tragedies that they have already endured over their short lives, Leah was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer and was told that she would not be able to have children of her own, due to the Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments she will endure throughout the rest of this year and the medication she will be on over the next ten years. Once again, leaving the burden of very costly medical bills, time off of work, in vitro fertilization treatments in order to use a surrogate, in addition to the pain and suffering to this young woman’s mind, body and spirit.

We are asking for our fellow friends and family within the community to help alleviate the financial burden on Leah who has been dealt a bad hand of cards, over and over again by showing your support by either making a monetary donation to this Go Fund Me page or, please consider joining us at our Fundraising event on Saturday, August 20 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Shenanigan’s Bar & Grille on Babcock Boulevard in the North Hills.  The event door fee will be $20 per person and will feature appetizers, drink specials, a 50/50 Raffle, Basket Auction, T-Shirt sales and much more.  All proceeds will go directly to Leah.

We kindly thank you in advance for your consideration for taking value in Leah’s Fight against Breast Cancer and helping someone within our community triumph.

P.S. - Leah is so humble that she would never ask for help, that's why as her friends we are asking.
