Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals,
We are reaching out today with an urgent plea for help on behalf of Leah Leslie, a 13-year-old girl from Belize who is fighting for her life after a severe medical crisis. Leah’s journey has taken a heartbreaking turn, and her family is in desperate need of support to cover her growing medical bills.
It all started when Leah began experiencing severe stomach pain and vomiting. Her family took her to the public hospital, where doctors ran tests and scans. They diagnosed her with Salmonella, prescribed antibiotics, and sent her home. But Leah’s condition continued to worsen. She suffered from constant abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, cold sweats, and a high fever.
On February 10, 2025, while celebrating her 13th birthday at school, Leah collapsed. She was rushed to a private hospital where doctors discovered the true cause of her suffering – Leah had acute appendicitis, which had ruptured. The rupture led to sepsis, which is now affecting her vital organs.
As is the case in private hospitals in Belize, all medical services must be paid for upfront. Leah’s mom has already paid for the initial surgery and the first few days of Leah’s hospital stay, but Leah needs to remain in the hospital under close observation, continuing to receive the critical care necessary for her recovery. The medical expenses are mounting quickly, and the family is struggling to keep up with the costs.
We are asking for your support to help Leah and her family cover the remainder of her hospital stay and medical care. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in ensuring Leah gets the treatment she needs to survive and recover.
Please consider contributing to Leah’s medical fund and keep her and her family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we can help Leah beat this fight.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
Sincerely,
Leah's Family
