Update 9/18/25: It has been a few days since we last posted an update on Leah, so a bit to catch up on. Leah has been discharged from the hospital and has moved to an intensive rehabilitation facility. At the facility she is working hard with various specialities like speech, physical, occupational therapy.

As an added bonus, the rehab facility allows dogs to visit - and Leah has taken full advantage of that.

She is showing some signs of engagement on her left side! That means she can make small movements here and there. She and the family are encouraged by this.

The road ahead will be long but Leah seems to be in really good spirits and ready to put in the hard work needed. We remain deeply grateful for the outpouring of support, love, wishes, and donations.

Progress Update on Leah! 9/8/25

We want to share an update on our girl and her recovery journey.

Since her stroke, she has shown encouraging signs of progress. She is now stable and has been extubated, which is a huge step forward. She is able to squeeze hands, showing that she can hear and connect with those around her. While she is still unable to move her left side, she is starting to feel touch and IVs, and such. These responses give her care team, and family, hope for continued recovery.

The road ahead will be long, with extensive rehabilitation and therapy needed, but these early milestones are a reminder of her strength and determination. She remains in ICU but we are hoping for a downgraded room in the next few days and hopefully allowing more visitors (remember gnomes make her smile ).

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and donations. Your support has lifted her spirits at some really tough moments. Thank you for the meal train that has started and respecting the set boundaries while they work to get their feet under them.

Our dear friend, amazing human, loving wife and pet mom, Leah Hoffman Ellis, recently suffered a massive stroke. She is now in a fight for her health and their future. The road to recovery is going to be long, challenging, and expensive.

Leah will be facing intensive medical care, rehabilitation, and ongoing therapies to regain strength and independence. Unfortunately, many of these costs are overwhelming and not covered by insurance. Add to that, the inability for her to work and Josh’s time away from work to support the love of his life makes this an unimaginable situation.

We’re asking for help from friends, family, and our incredible community to support Leah and Josh during this journey. Your donation—no matter the size—will go directly toward medical expenses, rehabilitation, medications, and daily living costs while Leah focuses on healing.

Leah and Josh have always been ones who unreservedly support others and now it's our turn to rally around them and show that same love and support.
