Leah's Journey

As many of you know, our sweet daughter Leah was recently diagnosed with Stage II Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and we need your help.

    After discovering a large lump in her neck and a much larger one in her chest,  undergoing several tests and a biopsy, we received the shocking news of cancer. Although she was having strange symptoms and unexplained health issues, we never imagined this. 

    The initial shock of the diagnosis has set in and now it’s time to fight. She will have to undergo several months of chemotherapy, scans, and medication and most likely move back home to be cared for. With this she will likely experience fatigue, nausea and hair loss among other side effects and long term effects. Along with the emotional struggle we are also facing many appointments, loss of wages, doctor bills, prescription costs and other medical expenses for the next 5 years or so.

    At first, we were not so comfortable with asking anyone for assistance. Although she has medical insurance, the bills are starting to come in and the lost wages are taking their toll. We know it's common for a family member or friend to set up the go fund me account, we were encouraged to instead set it up directly as her family so that anyone donating will know that the money can only be accessed by Leah's immediate family. 

    We know you all love Leah. Thank you all so very much for your love, prayers and support throughout this very emotionally stressful time in all of our lives. It means more than you could imagine.

Here’s a little more information about her illness..

    Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a form of blood cancer that is commonly diagnosed in young adults. It occurs when certain white blood cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes, travel via the lymph vessels to the lymph nodes and other areas of the body, where they grow and multiply uncontrollably. In Leah’s case her right lymph node in her neck is affected and there is a large tumor in her chest.
