Hi my name is Leah. I am 24 and from Washington, DC. Back in November 2020, I woke up with severe chest pains that radiated down my right arm and caused numbness in my arm and fingers. I went to urgent care at Kaiser to find out that I have a mass wrapped around my right lung and pulmonary arteries and a mass in my neck. I was transferred to Washington Hospital Center were I stayed for two weeks and I had open heart surgery on December 7th 2020 just for the doctor to get samples of the mass tissue. They were unable to remove the mass in my chest because of the placement. Still to this day I suffer from breathing problems and sometimes slight chest pains. Two months later I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Rosai-Dorfman Disease. Rosai-Dorfman is a overproduction of a specific type of white blood cell (histiocyte). I started a treatment of rituximab in late April of 2021, it didn't work and both masses were still the same size. So my oncologist decided for me to start chemotherapy. He explained to me all the side effects and the possibility of it effecting my fertility. He told me it was best for me to freeze my eggs.
I want to still be able to have the family I've always dreamed of and I want to be able to give both my parents the grandchildren they've always wanted. I want to ensure I have the future that I have always wanted. I'm hoping to raise the move to preserve my eggs which can cost up to $11,000.
Any donation or share will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
