On Saturday, Jan 17, 2026, Leah (41) went to the ER with severe pain in her lower abdomen/groin area, and back that started about 24 hours prior. It was highly suspected upon arrival that it was appendicitis due to the location and severity of the pain. After some lab work, a CT scan with contrast, and a transvaginal ultrasound, the doctor came into my room to let me know I have a mass on my ovary in the location of where the pain is coming from. I asked him if they could tell if it was a tumor or cyst. He said they could not tell with the imaging they obtained and recommended I get into the GYN office as soon as possible to get a biopsy. He said pain coming on so acutely is very normal for a mass.
This mass is highly concerning given that both my mom and grandmother (her mom) both have ovarian cancer. The pain is so severe I have been stuck in bed since getting home from the ER.
I really do need to have this addressed ASAP but have no clue how we can accomplish that with no insurance and money already very tight. This may also lead to my husband having to miss work to help take me to appointments.
I do not have insurance. I applied for Medicaid, but I'm not sure if I will be approved. Most treatment I would potentially need would not be covered by insurance.
Please, if you are able to help in any way by either donating or sharing, we would appreciate it so much.
