Forever in Our Hearts

Leah Jane Amezquita was an old soul. A child of the Universe with a poet’s heart, she had a deep appreciation for nature, art and music. Leah’s beauty radiated from her loving spirit. Her gorgeous face and her big brown eyes reflected the compassion she had for all. Though only 15-years old, Leah was a champion for causes of inequality and social injustice. She left an imprint on the hearts of those who knew her and those who wished they knew her better.

Always present was Leah’s devotion to her mother, Ivonne, her younger brother, Logan and her beloved cat, Boy, who was never far from her side. Whether strumming her ukulele or guitar, attending concerts together or spending countless hours being the best possible big sister she could be, Leah’s family came first. Together, these three were a remarkable trio of survival, commitment and love.

(Both of Leah’s parents were veterans and when her father passed away 5 years ago, her family suffered an unexpected loss. While her family grieved, Leah was the light in their darkness).

On August 8, 2020, Leah suddenly passed away after a brief illness. The diagnosis of aTTP, a rare blood disorder, stole Leah from her family and all her dreams of making a contribution to our world. Truth be told, Leah had already contributed so much to our world but had dreamed of doing so much more. Her family is heartbroken; shattered beyond all reason.

This is where you come in. To ease their grief and give Leah the funeral she deserves, her family needs your help. Your donations to help cover medical and funeral costs would go a long way toward making this tragic loss a little less painful. Please consider making a contribution in Leah’s memory.

“When destiny calls you must be strong, I may not be with you but you’ve got to hold on, they’ll see in time I know, we’ll show them together. ‘Cause You’ll be in my heart, You’ll be in my heart, from the day on now and forever more, You’ll be in my heart no matter what they say, You’ll be here in my heart, always. I’ll be there always, just look over your shoulder, I’ll be there.” –Phil Collins
