Hi all!

For the 4th year running, we are participating in Weipa's "League of Lemons" charity car rally.

The "League of Lemons" is an annual rally that traverses Weipa up to the northern "Tip of Cape York" via the infamous Old Telegraph Track.

Each team covers the distance in a "lemon" of a car, costing no more the $3000.

(Side note - people spend thousands of dollars preparing vehicles to attempt this track).

This trip isn’t for the feint-hearted... over 4 blistering-hot days, participants tackle ruggered water crossings, frequent break downs, dig out of muddy bog holes, and keep an eye out for crocs, in the name of fundraising for a very worthy cause.

2024s nominated charity is the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), which provides emergency medical and primary health care to people living or working in rural and remote Australia.

Funds raised by the 2024 "League of Lemons" will directly fund the purchase of necessary equipment and resources for the Northern RFDS planes and remote workplace sites.

Our cars:

Our famous '91 Suzuki Zitara is making a 4th appearance... with its 80 Shetland power engine under the hood, it travels at more of a trot than a gallop.

The Suzuki was purchased for a mere $1500 in 2021 and has continued to dominate the Tele Track with a PVC sikaflex snorkel, a slick of oil, and remenants of neglect.

Our 2rd vehicle... a 1986 Troop Carrier that features a 2H engine, a large rust hole in the floor, and is currently sporting flaking house paint (thanks previous owners). The Troopy is ahead of the game, as its engine starts.

The luxury of air conditioning is not necessary on this convoy as the track spits unrelenting red Cape dust, similar to a sandblaster.
