Le Voyeur collectivized in October of 2019, after a 20-year run from our dear ex-boss Ryan DiCrescenzo. He made Le Voyeur the memorable, magical, weird-ass little place it is, today, and this space has brought a lot of beautiful things into fruition. It has also hosted some weird, unforgettable memories. It's been host to literally thousands of shows, and is the only venue in town that has all-ages shows every night of the week. The place has a whole lotta history, and it’s hard to imagine Olympia without it.
We’ve been lucky in a lot of ways to be able to take this business on and keep an all-ages, DIY, collective-run show space in the heart of downtown Olympia. Over the years, we’ve watched many all-ages show spaces fade away, and we know that many of us are inspired to revive any and all spaces that keep us all together. We have been daydreaming for months about all the possibilities that could become realities in a collectively-run venue. Along the way, we’ve received -a lot- of generosity from so many different people in the community, and we are forever thankful. Without them, this would have never been possible! We want to honor that generosity by keeping Le Voyeur Cooperative alive for at least another another 20 years.
As a newly-formed co-op, we’ve had a lot of close calls. Now that we are all in a total health crisis, we are closing until further notice.
We don’t know when we can host events again, and we don’t know how long we can go without more cash in the bank. We are not alone in this, and we see so many GoFundMe’s popping up everyday - we don’t want to see everything that makes Olympia -Olympia- vanish before our eyes. We know that many businesses are affected by the COVID-19 crisis, and that also means that so many jobs and livelihoods are at stake. It’s overwhelming seeing how many people need community support to survive this, and we hope that we can all, one day, thrive.
