LDN Marathon 25 in Memory of Simon Hartnell
In April 2025, I will be lacing up my running shoes to tackle the London Marathon. I am dedicating this run to the memory of a dear family friend, Simon Hartnell, who left us far too soon at the age of 55 due to a sudden heart attack in 2022. Simon was a remarkable gentleman—kind, generous, and always giving great advice. His loss deeply affected everyone that knew him.
I am proud to be supporting the British Heart Foundation, an incredible charity that works tirelessly to prevent heart disease and improve the lives of those affected. Their vital research and educational initiatives can help save lives and ensure that fewer families suffer from the heartbreak we all experienced.
Simon ran the London Marathon for the British Heart Foundation in 1989. Unfortunately, to his disappointment he never got to cross the finish line as he suffered a hamstring haemorrhage and was pulled out of the race.
Running a marathon is a challenge unlike any I’ve faced before, but I am more determined than ever to give it my all, knowing that every step I take will contribute to this important cause, making the effort worthwhile and crossing that finish line for Harty!
This journey is not just about crossing the finish line; it’s about raising awareness and funds for a cause that honours Simon's legacy and helps prevent similar tragedies.
Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to a future where families don't have to experience the pain of losing a loved one too soon. Your support will inspire me through the long training runs and the tough days ahead, reminding me of why I’m doing this.
Thank you for considering a donation. Together, we can make a difference in Simon’s memory.
