LBFE St Pat's Party
Donation protected
Hello, wonderful friends and family (and generous strangers!)
Last St Patrick's Day was a fantastic day. My fellow Old Navy friends hung out with the elders and volunteers of Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly , for their annual celebration.
We had an incredible lunch spread, with a legit Irish singer, in a gorgeous venue in the Presidio.
I hung out with John, my awesome elder of 3+ years, who ate more sandwiches than I could count (and took even more for the road).
I got to call out the BINGO numbers (and I scared myself with how much I loved that feeling of power!!!).
...and all of this was sponsored by a grant from the awesome Gap Inc.
We were so looking forward to this year's event. But when the time came to apply for a grant... there were none available.
But we work in retail. We embrace challenge. We thrive on change. We aren't scared of a few obstacles. So we've decided to raise the funds ourselves. We will be bartending, bake sale-ing, and hosting donation-based yoga classes throughout the next few weeks.
If you are at all inclined to give up a few dollars to help these awesome elders have a stellar annual event, please consider donating! If you were thinking about getting me a birthday present, you're amazing - please consider donating instead! And if you want to get involved with LBFE and make a difference for an isolated elder, reach out to me!! It's a phenomenal organization I've been volunteering with for years, and would love share the experience.
Thank you so much!!
-Callie
P.S. - pictured is me and John, my "elder" (who stays out later than I do). We've been hanging out for over three years now, usually at sea chanteys, free concerts in the park, or takeout German food. He loves the St Pat's party - donate for John!!
