Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit Layne's gofundme page! Layne is an 8 year old boy with a complex medical history. He was born premature, causing brain damage. As a result he now has a long list of complications which include, periventricular luekomalacia, epilepsy, cortical visual impairment, cerebral palsy, kidney stones, and cyclic vomiting syndrome. The reason for the move would be his uncontrollable cyclic vomiting syndrome. His doctors say he has one of the most severe cases they have ever seen. What is cyclic vomiting syndrome? Cyclic vomiting syndrome or CVS is when extreme nausea and vomiting occur time after time with no apparent physical cause, the nausea and vomiting are relentless and difficult to control. In Layne's case, once he begins the vomiting, he vomits every 5-10 minutes, sometimes for days at a time. The only thing that can stop it is to heavily sedate him with IV narcotics. Sometimes CVS can be controlled with daily medications, but for Layne, we have tried all of the usually successful medications for this disorder with no success. This is where Cannabis oil comes into play. With lots of research and consulting with Layne's doctors, we have decided that this is the best option for Layne. Because CVS is neurological there's a high probability that Cannabis oil can stop this awful disorder from happening. Unfortunately, Cannabis oil is not legal here in Texas and there's not much hope that it will be in the near future so we must make the move to Colorado now. Texas is also not cannabis friendly so if we were to give him oil illegally, we would easily face a CPS investigation! Layne's fragile body cannot continue to endure these attacks as it has already been so detrimental to his health. He went from tolerating formula feeds in his gtube, to becoming unable to tolerate anything in his stomach and becoming 100% dependent on TPN/lipids given through a central line.
