Lay Murphy to Rest: Vet Bills & Final Expenses

Donation protected
December 2, 2024:
This afternoon, Murphy went to sleep for the last time. His doctors believe that he had a mass on his brainstem, and he declined markedly over the course of the day. We were with him until the end. We are so thankful to have had nearly four joyful years with his beautiful presence, and we miss him so much already. Pulling into the driveway tonight and not seeing his dear face in the window was wrenching.

Thank you, dear friends.

November 30, 2024:
My name is Maureen and my cat Murphy is the apple of my eye. Over the last few months, he's had periodic bouts of seeming "under the weather," but has always bounced back. Two weeks ago, we took him to his veterinarian because he wasn't eating, nor was he urinating or having bowel movements. X-rays showed constipation causing pressure on the urethra. After a urinary catheterization, an enema, and some medication, our little friend seemed on the road to recovery.

On Thanksgiving Day, while traveling in Michigan, Murphy presented with the same symptoms. I hurried with him to Blue Pearl in Auburn Hills where, after hours of waiting, we got the same diagnosis (constipation), and Murphy was given an enema, subcutaneous fluids, and some lactulose to take home.

None of this care is cheap. The total for both urgent-care visits is about $2400 (images below). I work as many hours as I can at my higher education job, and my husband is working towards a new career after many years in logistics and operations management. The gig work market in our area has become saturated, and I'm not able to pick up as many jobs as I once was.

We know times are hard for everyone, and we don't like asking for help. We will be so grateful for any assistance you are able to offer in paying off Murphy's vet bills. Any amount helps. Thank you, friends.
