I am writing on behalf of my long-time family friends and their daughter Layla. This past March, on Layla's 3rd birthday, she woke up unable to walk properly out of the blue. After a two-week hospital stay, her parents received the worst news imaginable. They were told their beautiful daughter had neuroblastoma cancer and a rare neurological autoimmune disease contingent with neuroblastoma that attacks the brain stem and cerebellum. From then, it’s been countless scans, hospital stays, a surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, and a port placement for future treatments.

Layla has 4 other siblings, and her mom was a stay-at-home mom, with Greg (Layla’s dad) being the primary breadwinner. However, he has had to take so many days off that eventually it became per diem pay, which was a huge hit because there were weeks he was only able to work one day, if that, meaning then only getting paid for the one day he worked. He has since lost his job due to not being able to be there daily and was offered only a severance. Unfortunately, they don’t have very much family local, and the few local family members they do have, they utilize as much as possible, but it’s still become impossible trying to keep up.

Layla will be needing a new round of treatments which are due to start the week before Thanksgiving for both of these conditions, and the family could really use our help offsetting the financial stress of everything right now until Greg is able to secure a new position and they can get their new schedule in place.
