Our Family’s Healing Journey & How You Can Help

Six months ago, our family’s world changed forever. My husband, Patrick, passed away in my arms and was brought back to life after 8 rounds of CPR. Though he survived, he suffered a severe brain injury and spent weeks in a coma. We still haven’t heard his voice, and he is slowly relearning how to move, connect, and inhabit his body again.

My three children and I spend every possible hour by his side, helping him remember his life, his purpose, and the love surrounding him. Patrick requires full-time care, and we have traveled from Hawai‘i to Colorado so he can receive specialized brain-trauma rehabilitation.

For over a decade, our family has lived in Hawai‘i doing nonprofit work through Imua Conservation Organization—building gardens, teaching regenerative practices, and helping our community grow food and connection to the land. Healing, for us, has always been both personal and ecological.

This transition has been enormous—emotionally, spiritually, and financially. We are humbly asking for support with basic expenses: temporary lodging near his rehab center, food, travel for our children, and eventually securing a small piece of land or home where Patrick can continue healing in a peaceful, nature-based environment.

A Vision for the Future

As Patrick recovers, we hope to create a healing sanctuary that also aligns with the mission of Imua Conservation Organization—offering nourishment, ecological education, and community support rooted in love and resilience.
