We are urgently trying to raise funds for Layla Davis, who is currently facing a relapse of Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in her left thigh. The cancer has now spread to her pelvis and upper thigh. Layla has completed 7 of her 12 rounds of chemotherapy so far.

Her family applied for approval to take her overseas for Proton radiation therapy, which is considered the best treatment option worldwide for this type of cancer. Unfortunately, the government declined the application without further review. While Proton therapy is the standard protocol internationally, Australia does not currently have the appropriate technology available for her treatment. As a result, Layla has been advised to undergo photon radiation, which doctors say is “sufficient.” Proton therapy offers her the best chance at achieving the most positive outcome, and her family is determined to explore every possible option to give her that opportunity. This is likely to cost them $150k + and we're hoping community will have a better results that what the government offers.

Layla is one of four siblings, and her family is doing everything possible to keep their beautiful family unit together during this incredibly challenging time. They are currently living hundreds of kilometres away from their home so she can receive treatment. Her parents have had to step away from work in order to prioritise Layla’s care and to support all of their children through this journey.

Cancer is not only emotionally devastating — it is financially overwhelming. The funds raised will go towards accessing the best possible treatment for Layla, as well as covering general living expenses, travel, accommodation, and the ongoing costs that come with treatment and recovery.

Although the family has already raised some funds, they still need further support to give Layla the best possible chance and to ease the immense pressure they are facing.
