Baby Ruby

My name is Patricia, and my heart is broken. On March 25th, 2024, our lives took an unexpected and devastating turn. I was six months pregnant with my precious baby girl, Ruby Villegas, when I woke up with a fever. Within hours of arriving at the hospital, the unimaginable happened – two doctors confirmed there was no heartbeat. Soon after, my water broke, and I delivered my sweet Ruby, who had already gained her angel wings.

But my nightmare didn’t end there.

Shortly after losing Ruby, my own health rapidly declined. I went into septic shock, and my organs began to shut down. I was intubated and placed in the ICU, fighting for my life. When I finally woke up, I learned that I was now in emergency kidney failure and had been placed on dialysis just to keep me alive. The doctors told me I would now need a kidney transplant.

What was supposed to be a time of preparing to welcome my daughter turned into the most traumatic and life-altering experience of my life. I’m now grieving the loss of my baby while also navigating a long and uncertain road ahead with my health.

The shock and grief of losing Ruby have been overwhelming. We were so excited to welcome her into our family, and now we are faced with the unimaginable task of saying goodbye. As this loss was completely unexpected, we were not financially prepared for the costs associated with laying our beautiful baby girl to rest.

Now, all I want is to give Ruby the simple yet beautiful farewell she deserves. I am reaching out to my community, friends, and anyone who feels moved to help, to raise funds to cover the funeral expenses for our sweet Ruby.
