Private family cremation services for Edward Alan Langenback, 63, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, have been entrusted to Rose Hill Funeral Home. No public event is planned.
Ed Langenback was born on June 29, 1959, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to David and Mary (Martindale) Langenback. He departed this life on August 13, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 63.
Ed moved to Tulsa in 1972. In 1979 he went out on his own for many years, without contacting friends or family. Much about where he was and what he was doing during this time remains a mystery. In fact, Ed was not seen again until 1992, when it was discovered that he was living in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was employed by Pizza Hut, as a delivery driver. He had also lived in Arkansas, before returning to Tulsa.
In 2007, Ed started gaming online (especially Minecraft). He was known worldwide across multiple platforms of social media as Tinfoil Chef. This eventually led to Ed having a cult-like following of tens of thousands of followers. The internet is full of fan-art likenesses of Ed, as well as postings, videos, blogs, and vlogs created by the Tinfoil Chef, himself.
Ed was a hermit. He loved being by himself and was happiest by himself.
Ed is survived by two sisters: Holly Hawkins, and Wendy Abbeduto; brother-in-law, Michael Abbeduto; thirteen nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; numerous other relatives; and legions of online followers.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lura; brother, Tom Langenback; and sister, Mary Langenback.
“Thanks for watching, take it easy, I’m outta here.”
