Lawyer fees to fight harassment

Let me preface this with:
The world has bigger problems than my bullshit, and I don’t wish to be asking for this help.
A lawyer it turns out, is real expensive. I have been advised to to secure one not for the restraining order, but to respond to the plaintiffs claim that they are owed $70k in damages. I checked with the insurance we have for the store but it won’t cover this.
I can file my own RO. But the implication that I owe this person $70,000? I can’t afford to lose that. I’m the owner of a small board game store. I’m just a short pay grade above comic book store owner, especially in these times where we have lost 3/4 of our revenue due to the pandemic.
It was suggested to me to do a GoFundMe and I concede it may be prudent to get a lawyer. I have access to the one that represented the last person to get a restraining order against this person and is representing one other friend to do the same. She gets $350/ hr with a 10 hour minimum retainer. 0_o
Go to law school.
To be clear, I think this is a bullshit waste of money. If I had a spare $3,500 I’d take myself on a little vacation when the world opens again. Or use that money for further cat rescue upgrades.
However, if for whatever reason you are flush with cash and can spare an extra $5, you have my appreciation. I hope I can help stop this person from hurting more women.
