At age 15 I gave birth to my first child, Luciano. He is now on his 9th cycle of life! His father and I were very young and did not know one another or ourselves very well.

As life flowed on we realized differences in what our desires/dreams, passions, and energetic contribution to the world. We found that it was best for us to find a way to co-parent and co-opposite separately. I was granted primary physical placement and we received an order for joint custody. I have always made room for the importance of relationship with his father, as I experienced my life without one.

We both re-partnered and began building foundations for our families. With great intention I have done my best to be respectful, supportive, and loving to strengthen our relationship and show our son the importance of co-operation!

Despite my surrender to the shifts of change, it has not been reciprocated. There has been an underlying resistance to change and lack of open communication involving relocation, travel, education and health.

Six months ago I presented Luciano's father with my plan to temporarily relocate for half of the year. He did not agree with this, and so I did my best to find a solution which would not leave scars on our son or our need to show one another support and respect. Many times I have proposed to come together to communicate fears and needs that we could resolve. He is not ready to do.

This has led to a situation that stands to drastically scar leave scars in Luciano’s self esteem, inner voice, freedom, and relationship with his mother and brothers! He has been withheld from me and my family for the past week. This morning I was served with papers temporarily granting my sons father full physical placement and full custody due to his “being fearful for his sons life when with the mother”.

When I went to see my son a door was slammed in my face and I had to call the police (the last thing I ever want). They were unable to remove him.

Next week, I will have to show be present in a “Zoom” meeting with a court commissioner to decide what is best for my child. I am devastated and in shock. My baby, my first born, from my body, my boy. I am trying to remove fear from my heart but there are insidious accusations being made against me and my mothering.

While I accept and understand his emotion and fears surrounding such a dramatic life shift, our child should not have to suffer this stress and confusion.

I believe ANYTHING is possible and that there are MANY opportunities for us all to find solution. We just have to be willing to surrender, show one another love, and be open to new ways of existing!

I am reaching out in need of support in raising funds for a family court lawyer. Upon the events of this morning I immediately began contacting law firms to get quotes. The most affordable retainer was $2500 with additional fees in the event that we need a guardian ad lidem (we do because he is a minor and his voice, needs, desires MUST be heard!).

Unfortunately, with our moving out of the city and need for some stability we are unable to pay the steep up front bill. We are desperate for ways to get the representation we need.

We need help IMMEDIATELY as action must be taken to prepare for our upcoming zoom hearing on May 8th.

Our family is incomplete without Luciano and It is unimaginable to understand the pain he may be feeling. I envision a life for him where his parents can work together to create a reality in which he can gain knowledge of culture, creative communication, collaboration and faith in community. I have love. I have hope. I have presence. In the here and now, I will fight for my child, and I will never give up.
