My son Adam has been stranded in the UK for almost 2 years. He was born in the UK in 1975. In 1979 I brought him to the US to escape an abusive marriage, he was 3.. I am a US citizen born and raised, daughter and sister to US Army war veterans. I was told at Immigration in Philadelphia that Adam had citizenship through me. He holds a SS card, driver's license and is E-verified to work in the US.  He has worked, paid taxes etc. since age 12. How did he come to obtain these if he is not a US citizen? I completed all paperwork. In 2014 Adam applied for a US passport. He had been contacted via social media by his birth father's family saying his father was ill and wanted to meet Adam. There had been no contact for 36 years. When applying for the passport Adam was told he was a US citizen but had no documentation. We immediately contacted Immigration in Cleveland where I was given many forms,all denied at a great cost. We were told by 2 Immigration officers that because of the urgency of the trip that Adam could get a UK passport and an ESTA to make the trip. In Jan. 2015 Adam made the trip and returned a week later. In May 2015 Adam returned to the UK to say his goodbyes and upon trying to return was told his ESTA had been revoked. He has been stuck there ever since and is stuck in a 5 year backlog waiting for a visa. I have been contacting immigration, my senators , other state senators and even the president to no avail. They are all unable or unwilling to help Adam. I have been advised to engage a good immigration lawyer.
 I am a Stage 3 breast cancer survivor living on a small disability. Any savings I had have gone towards filing fees at immigration. Adam has helped me with healthcare and living expenses and has been my support person through chemo, radiation etc.. His life has been stolen from him by immigration. They refuse to take responcibility for their mistakes in 1979 and again since 2014. They can't even get his birth date right. They give out false information constantly resulting in high fees. I am basically being told I will never see my son again.  I am asking for help in raising money for a good lawyer or even asking for help from a lawyer willing to take Adam's case pro bono. My son needs to come home to the only life he has ever known, to his family. He has worked hard all his life and is an American.
