This fund is for a very special, well-loved man who is in critical condition!!! Our Dad, "Pops" - Rick Lawrence Sr. - has suffered very serious spinal cord damage and is currently awaiting surgery. He has at been at Mercy San Juan Medical Center since Nov. 25th and continues to keep a smile on his face, despite the frightening circumstances.
His wife, Judie (our Mom and "Namaw"), has been right by his side throughout this whole ordeal. She continues to care for him with such grace and indomitable spirit! We ask that you please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers!
We are hoping to ease some of the medical expenses associated with unforseen incidentals. We are not sure at this time just how much the expenses will surmount to under these circumstances. He will most likely be moved to a University Hospital and will have to undergo several surgeries.
They attempted his first surgery on Dec. 1st in hopes to relieve some of the spinal cord issues. The surgery was aborted due to complications related to his nerves and blood flow. He is currently in a "holding pattern" until they can assure that the surgery can be performed safely. Once that surgery is successful, they will proceed with an additional surgery to repair several herniated discs in his neck.
"Pops" may have a rough and uncertain road ahead of him, but anyone who knows him will tell you that he will face it like a CHAMP and give the best fight of his life! We greatly appreciate any amount of help you can give at this time. Any unused funds will be donated to a charity of Rick Sr.'s choice. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time and consideration!
