Lawrence Siudmak's fight against brain cancer
In June of 2022, Lawrence started having some "headaches" which culminated in seizures. After a CT scan found a large mass in his right frontal lobe, Lawrence had a craniotomy to remove as much of the mass as possible. Pathology revealed that Lawrence has a grade 4 astrocytoma.
Lawrence had clear scans for about 9 months through 2023-2024; however, in May his routine scan revealed what the doctors believed to be tumor regrowth. They restarted his chemotherapy until his next routine scan in July showed more growth. Lawrence underwent a second craniotomy surgery the day after his birthday on August 22nd.
Earlier this week, Lawrence's sutures were removed. The next day, his incision site started to leak some clear fluid. On Monday, he went to his surgeon's office, and they sent him to the ER. He was admitted to the hospital that same evening. Then, on Tuesday, he underwent a quick surgery to clean up the incision area and re-suture. He is currently still in the hospital and cannot go home until some further testing comes back.
We are planning to use the funds to help with insurance and/or treatment costs, bills, groceries, and other life needs. We are now a one income household (on a teacher salary) and we have two children, so our finances are a little tight.
