Lawrence Fire Relief

Edited on 9/14: We gained more information on the support needed, and updated the language.

I am Ryan Knight. I work for UP Education Network , which runs two schools in Lawrence: UP Academy Leonard and UP Academy Oliver.  We are raising funds to assist victims of the natural gas fires in Lawrence, Massachusetts on September 13, 2018.

The funds will be used to provide financial and relief assistance to victims of the fires.

On September 13, 2018, dozens of explosions and fires rocked Lawrence, Andover and North Andover in an unprecedented natural gas emergency.

Local news sources like the
Eagle Tribune  have extensive coverage.

The funds will be distributed at the shelters set up at the Parthum and Arlington schools as financial assistance or goods. We are coordinating with the Mayor's office to assess need and distribute funds. Any funds remaining will be donated to the Essex County Community Foundation's emergency fund. Please also consider supporting this fund directly: lawrenceemergencyfund  (Edited 9/16 to remove Monday deadline -- we are trying to prioritize direct support to families and need some additional time to do so).

How else can I help?

WBUR has a list of ways to support here. (Edited 9/16 to remove list of goods needed -- Please reach out to the Lawrence Senior Center if you are interested in donating goods, as most of their needs have been met).
