Andy Carey Fundraiser

Andy Carey, who many of you know as “The Bull Man” has been on an up hill battle with his health. It all started with a severe fall in November of last year. During this time Andy was hospitalized due to having sudden personality changes, cognitive disorientation, and even experiencing hallucinations. While his doctors completed many test, all which came back negative, he appeared to be a medical mystery with no real explanation for his sudden onset of neurological symptoms. With no real cause for his sudden mental decline his doctors diagnosed him with dementia. Not willing to accept that answer, Andy’s family advocated for him immensely for the medical staff to look further into his case. After more extensive testing the results of a repeat spinal tap came back positive for Herpes simplex encephalitis. This is a very rare neurological disorder which causes inflammation of the brain. Due to the delay in diagnosing this disorder, resulting in a delay in treatment, the severe swelling in Andy’s brain caused irreversible damage. Shortly after finding this out Andy was also diagnosed with having 3 blockages in his heart, one being severe in the main artery and requiring him to receive 3 stents. This along with another diagnosis of a damaged trachea and suspicious cell finding(awaiting upcoming biopsies) this has caused him to have CO2 poisoning only furthering his cognitive regression. This has caused Andy to require around the clock care which has become very expensive and put an extreme financial strain on his family. While Andys wife Rhonda has done an amazing job at taking care of him and working hard to pay for medical bills it is starting to become too much at this time for one person alone. Our world has been shattered but not over. We are not giving up and although Andy and his family are experiencing a new normal we are grateful he is still with us. We are asking for donations to help with his constant care and medical bills. Anything helps, even if it’s just a prayer.
