My name is Audrey Regan. I am a sophomore at Merrimack College. I am a part of the Austin Scholars program which is a service learning program that serves the local communities each week. Previously I have done my work at Lawrence Catholic Academy. As a member of the MC women’s rowing team I also row on the Merrimack River in Lawrence every morning. The Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover area is a community.
On Sept. 13th a gas main was over-pressurized affecting customers in the three towns. The area was told to evacuate to shelters. The explosions and fires took over homes leaving families with only each other to hold on to. Emergency crews responded to between roughly 60 and 80 fires into the night.
Through the devastation, we would like to have hope that as a community, we will recover. All donations are greatly appreciated. The collection through this Go Fund Me will be partially sent to the Essex County Community Foundation's Lawrence Emergency Fund and partially given to other needs for those affected by the fires.
