As the Director of the Law Academy at Balboa High School since 2004, I’m reaching out to share an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our students. Your mentorship has been instrumental in guiding our scholars toward bright futures in the legal profession. Now, we invite you to take your support one step further by contributing to our program before the end of the calendar year. Update Classroom Technology and Classroom Features: Equip students with modern tools essential for legal research and projects. This includes updating our aging Chromebooks, LCD projectors, subscribing to online resources such as TCI, the New York Times for Students, as well as a subscription to a publishing service for our students to post their law-related blogs. Matching modern furniture is also badly needed.

Fund Transportation to the State Capitol and student/teacher retreats: Provide students with firsthand experiences in legislative processes and civic engagement. We are eager to start our mock legislative assembly with legislative aides; a program that was a feather in the cap for our program.

Foster Program Pride: Supply students with Law Academy-themed shirts to build a sense of belonging and celebrate their hard work. We also enjoy providing our students with multiple community-building opportunities outside of the campus, which includes games and food, and this requires funding the school and the district does not provide. We also wish to bring back an overnight retreat where we can enhance community with our students, as well as a ropes course.
