The outpouring of love and support from everyone has been amazing, to say the least! Many of you have asked to donate or help Freida and family during this difficult time. Therefore, her family has put together a GoFundMe account where you can send her money if you would like. All of the kind words and people reaching out to show support has been a saving grace for Freida and she appreciates every call, text, thought, and most of all, prayer. Lavon was the sole proprietor to a household of 7. We would like to keep Freida and family from having to worry about the financial burden of taking care of the household so she can focus on her husband and trying to bring him home. Thank you all in advance for you support. Below is Lavon’s story.
Lavon Yoder was in a terrible accident Wednesday 10-14-2020 involving four vehicles, including two 18-wheelers. He was life flighted to South Bend memorial after having to be resuscitated at the accident site and then again at the hospital. As a result, he was left with extensive injuries to his head and brain. There was major swelling on the left side of his brain with no activity on that side and very little on the right side. He had surgery Thursday to remove the left side of his skull to allow room for his brain swelling, which has since gone down, and relieve pressure to the right side. He has many broken bones mainly on his left side. He has broken ribs in the back and severely cracked front ribs. He is on a ventilator and remains unconscious while his body tries to heal itself. The left side of his body took the worst of the impact. The rest of his body if functioning on it's own for the most part. It is his brain that has suffered the worst trauma. We dont know the extent of the permanent damage done yet. We are optimistic because the right side of his brain tries to respond to pain stimulation. The doctors are hoping he will wake up as he has been unconscious and kept sedated since the accident. At this point, the doctors have done what they can and it is now up to Lavon to wake up and come back to his family. Lavon is a loving and devoted husband to his wife Freida Coblentz-Yoder and five children, ages 18 yrs to 1. We are asking everyone to keep up your fervent prayers as he still has a long and difficult road ahead. Freida and the kids can use all the love, support and prayers you can give. Please keep praying and never stop as we need a powerful miracle of healing from our most powerful God!
