Kaira adopted Laverne from a foster home about three months ago. Laverne was quite happy at her foster home but fell in love with Kaira the moment she met her. The "love at first sight" feeling was mutual; Kaira simply had to have her.

 

Kaira and Laverne were on their daily walk yesterday when a rattlesnake bit Laverne. A dog mom's worst nightmare. Thankfully, Kaira was able to rush Laverne to the emergency clinic, where she received a life-saving dose of antivenin. Laverne is currently in stable condition but remains at the clinic for overnight observation as she may need additional treatment.

 

Laverne’s medical bills total over $3,000 and counting. While Kaira was able to cover the medical bills, her friends and family recognize the financial burden she now faces as a young college student. We ask that her friends, family, and fellow dog lovers consider making a small donation to ease that burden and celebrate Laverne’s future. All additional proceeds will be donated to the Colorado Humane Society and SPCA.
